Psychotherapy is a learning experience. People often think they know themselves and what they need to have a better life. The therapist job is to help the client/patient to explore and express their inner emotional life while helping the individual to find their authentic self. Goal setting and homework may be part of the process.
My behavioral cognitive treatment approach includes the concern and awareness of each client's racial or ethnic identity, country of origin, physical ability, sexual and gender preference, and spiritual and religious affiliations which can be influential in the self narrative and choice-making life strategies.
