Time, Fees and Insurance

The Personal Coaching plan is designed around weekly 30-minute sessions (via phone or in person) that take place four times per month. Coaching is not psychotherapy; therefore, coaching is not covered by health insurance. Coaching plans are negotiable. You can pay monthly or several months in advance with a discount.

Psychotherapy sessions are 45 minutes for both individuals and couples. To cancel a session and not be responsible for payment, patients must call or text me 35 hours in advance. Cancellations are not accepted via emails.

Insurance Requirements: All insurance companies require some information about the reason for psychological treatment in order to process your claim. In addition, managed care plans can require detailed information regarding the problem for which you are seeking help, history, symptoms, family and work life, etc.

Control of Treatment: Managed care companies use the above information to decide if treatment is medically necessary.

Psychiatric Diagnosis: Health insurance is designed to pay for the treatment of illness. Therefore, a psychiatric diagnosis must be made before insurance companies will pay.

I accept UHC, Oxford and Aetna Insurances. I do not take insurance payments for couple sessions. I qualify for patient reimbursement for out of network treatment under most health insurance plans. My fees for psychotherapy are generally considered to be within the acceptable range of most PPO insurance plans.

I typically bill monthly, and I will provide you with a statement for reimbursement that includes information required by most insurance companies. My fees are within the range of what most insurance companies consider “usual and customary.”

For payment I accept cash, Flexible Spending Cards, debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and personal checks as payment. All personal checks returned from the bank will be assessed a $40.00 fee to the patient.
