Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a self-help method of managing your emotions. Through the release of energy with the tapping of fingers you are able to unblock and restore emotional balance. You are then able to work through complex problems intellectually with little emotional attachment.

The energy system in our body that is used in EFT is the same energy system used in acupuncture. There are 14 energy pathways in the body known as meridians. Negative emotions are caused by disturbances in one or more of these meridians at any given time.

Stamford engineer Gary Craig, a student of Roger Callahan (founder of tapping therapy) simplified the tapping technique. Using his technique, you don’t have to be concerned about which meridian point to tap on. You tap on all the points.

When the energy is active, it keeps a person in a disturbing emotional state. With tapping, you are able to clear the negative energy (the emotion) leaving only the memory of the disturbance. When the emotion is removed, the individual is better able to cope and to problem solve.
